About Auditioning

Thank you for your interest in Northwest Girlchoir! For over four decades, we have been dedicated to the development of girls' musical knowledge, vocal/performance skills, cultural awareness and personal responsibility in a hard-working, fun, and caring community and we would be thrilled to have your daughter (and other talented girls you know) join us!

Enrollment (grades 1-2) and auditions (grades 3-12) for January entry will begin in November.

About the Audition

The audition is low pressure and fun! During the 20-minute audition, Northwest Girlchoir Artistic Director, Sara Boos, will check your daughter's voice quality, range, and listening skills by having her sing some simple patterns. She will be looking at your daughter's ability to focus and take direction, her interest in learning new things, and her kind/positive character. For girls 6th grade and above, we recommend some previous musical training (not necessarily vocal). Some good examples are playing an instrument (piano, band, or orchestra) or participation in  a church or school choir. The singer should prepare one short, non-"pop" song (i.e. "My Country 'Tis of Thee," "Twinkle, Twinkle") to sing without accompaniment. Parents are asked to sit in on auditions.

There is a $10 audition fee, payable when signing up, or you can bring $10 with you (cash or check payable to Northwest Girlchoir) to cover the audition fee. We will have an audition form ready at the office.
