Thank you SO MUCH for the terrific performance of Glory! You and the singers did a GREAT job. Thanks especially for the sensitive musicality and shape that you brought to the slow, a-cappella section, you really made it your own by breathing a tender and poignant spirit into the music that truly brought it to life.

Amore Ends Tour on a Beautiful Note

Final Concert Held in Church of the Rock

Our final full day in Helsinki was (again) warm and sunny with a delicious light breeze – summer at its best. We started the day with a short boat trip to an island in Helsinki’s harbor – called Sveaborg. This island is the site of a fort and a variety of other buildings, many of which date back to the 1700s. After several hours of wandering the paths, beaches, and tunnels, we returned to the “mainland” and headed to Church of the Rock for Amore’s final concert of the tour. This concert was perhaps their finest yet. After so many days of performing this music, Sara and the choristers have honed the pieces to near perfection. At our farewell dinner, Andrew commented that this tour’s performances were the most consistent he has ever experienced. The final song was a bit emotional for some as this was truly the last performance for the graduating seniors. Following the concert, we also had to say goodbye to Vescu – a gem of a tour guide. He’s been much more than a tour guide, actually. He has deep knowledge of and passion for music – and threw himself into this tour. Because of his front work, Amore sang for a cumulative audience of about 1000 people! He distributed CDs of Sibelius music (that he had made himself) to every chorister and every adult. Then he said his goodbyes and left.

Our farewell dinner took place at a waterfront restaurant with a gorgeous view out to the islands. After dinner (which was one of our best meals on the tour!), Sara and Andrew shared their impressions of the tour, and several Senior choristers spoke about what this organization has meant to them. Ensemble then sang to us all with words written just for the occasion – and the tears flowed.

Thank you Northwest Girlchoir for what you give to our daughters!
