My experiences during the 11 years I spent in Northwest Girlchoir are an integral part of who I am. The high quality of musicianship set the bar very high during the process of deciding where to go to college. I can thank my musical training with the choir for my ability to blend with fellow choristers, sight-reading skills and so many other tools which I use every day.

Northwest Girlchoir 35th Anniversary Concert, May 2008, Meany Hall
Founded in 1972, Northwest Girlchoir contributes to the cultural vibrancy of the Puget Sound region and promotes artistic excellence, collaboration, community outreach, service, and sharing the joy of choral singing with others.
In the 1980s and 1990s Northwest Girlchoir thrived under the leadership of Rebecca Rottsolk, who grew the choir from two choirs to five and greatly increased the artistic and administrative staffs. Under her direction, international acclaim followed as the choir traveled to Hungary, Australia, Fiji, and Brazil.
In 2003 Sara Boos assumed the post of Artistic Director, bringing to Northwest Girlchoir her extensive background in choral conducting, music education, and vocal performance. Since then, Northwest Girlchoir has experienced phenomenal growth, doubling enrollment and adding new programs and rehearsal locations. Artistic and administrative staffs have grown, and the organization continues to maintain a solid financial foundation.
Northwest Girlchoir offers programs for singers as young as four years old through senior year in high school. Most rehearsals take place in Seattle with some programs offered in Bellevue.
Concert repertoire includes a diverse mix of classical works, world music, and contemporary choral pieces. In 2007, to celebrate the choir's 35th anniversary, Northwest Girlchoir commissioned John Meuhleisen’s “Glory! A History Lesson.” Our recent collaborative commissions include Bob Chilcott’s “Like a Singing Bird” and Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory’s “Witness.”
Northwest Girlchoir performs regularly in venues such as Meany Theater, Benaroya Hall, and Town Hall. Recent collaborations have included concerts with the world-renowned Danish National Girls' Choir, American Masterpieces Choral Festival, Los Angeles Children’s Choir, Portland Symphonic Girlchoir, and Gondwana Voices, Australia’s national youth choir.
