My experiences during the 11 years I spent in Northwest Girlchoir are an integral part of who I am; the lessons learned and memories made continue to serve me every day. The high quality of musicianship that I was immersed in during my time with the choir set the bar very high during the process of deciding where to go to college. I can thank my musical training with the choir for my ability to blend with fellow choristers, sight-reading skills and so many other tools which I use every day. Also, in a more broad sense, touring with Northwest Girlchoir has shaped who I am and has opened my eyes to many different cultures, helping to make me a more confident person.

Age 4-Grade 2: Non-Auditioned Choirs
Songbirds (Age 4 - PreK)
Seattle: Thursdays, 2:00 – 2:45 pm
Session 1: September 8 – November 10, 2011
Session 2: January 5 – March 8, 2012
Session 3: March 22 – May 31, 2012
Your daughter will sing, dance, play games, play instruments, giggle, and have a lot of fun in this early childhood music exploration class, led by Lesley Rippee. A non-auditioned class for four year olds through Pre-K, Songbirds explores music readiness concepts and skills, which lay the foundation for a lifetime of musical participation and enjoyment. Songbirds has three 10-week sessions during our season with a classroom performance at the end of each session. Songbirds accepts new singers three times a year (September, January, and March) on a first-come, first-serve basis as spots are available.

Music Makers (Kindergarten)

Northwest Girlchoir invites girls entering Kindergarten to join Music Makers, our youngest performing non-auditioned choir, led by Lesley Rippee. Fast-paced, developmentally appropriate, fun classes introduce fundamental musical skills and healthy vocal exploration. Music Makers girls participate in three Northwest Girlchoir concerts per year and delight audiences with their emerging musicianship and boundless enthusiasm. Music Makers starts in September and ends in May. Music Makers is a year-long choir, but we accept new singers in September and January, if space is available.
Prep Choir (Grades 1–2)
Seattle: Mondays or Tuesdays or Thursdays, 5:00-6:00pmEastside: Wednesdays, 5:00-6:00pm
First and second graders are invited to join Northwest Girlchoir’s Prep Choir, led by Julia Sarewitz. Through active, informal games and activities, fundamentals of music and healthy vocal production are introduced and practiced, and girls participate in three Northwest Girlchoir performances per year. Prep Choir starts in September and ends in May.
Prep Choir is a year-long choir, but we accept new singers in September and January, if space is available.
