My reasons for giving to Northwest Girlchoir are not only personal. Our daughter graduated in 2005 but even now, when we go to a Girlchoir concert and see an 11 year old girl bravely stand up in front of a packed Town Hall and deliver a confident, tender solo, I know I've helped make something important happen--not just for our family, but for many girls and young women. That's what makes my family happy to contribute to NWGC.

About Northwest Girlchoir Fundraising

Each year Northwest Girlchoir conducts a fundraising campaign and holds two events to fill the gap between total annual expenses and the revenue realized from tuition, ticket sales, performance fees, and other earned income. In addition, choristers have the opportunity to participate in several fundraisers throughout the year to "save up" for their tours.

Operating Budget

In the 2010/2011 season, Northwest Girlchoir must raise $115,100 (25% of the 2010/2011 $457,500 operating budget). Northwest Girlchoir raises this critical revenue in a number of ways and from a number of different sources. Annual fundraising efforts include:

  • Personal donations from individuals who realize the importance of keeping the arts vibrant and flourishing in the lives of children. Donate now.
  • Grants from foundations and public agencies. In the 2009/2010 season, $24,671 (25% of total fundraising dollars) came from grants.
  • Two annual events:  A November Nosh, a silent auction, brunch buffet, and performances by Northwest Girlchoir choristers, and Spring Fling, an adults-only cocktail party with performances by Ensemble and special guests.
  • Annual Fund: a ten-week campaign to raise funds that close the gap between tuition and the true cost of the musical education each chorister receives. In the 2010/2011 season, you can donate or pledge Oct 1- Dec 31. Our annual goal for this campaign is community effort: 100% participation from all choir families. This level of participation helps us communicate to grant giving or sponsoring organizations the support the choir enjoys.
  • Matching Gifts: check with your employer today to see if it offers a matching gifts program, and if so, we hope you will take advantage of it.

Tours
Chorister fundraisers include:

  • Grounds for Change Coffee
  • Sally Foster giftwrap

Choristers in Amore and Vivace, whose tours often include airfare and are 1-3 weeks in duration can work together on group fundraisers, organized by parents, to reduce the total cost of their tours.
