A highlight of this year’s Spring Fling will be the delicious bites offered from That Brown Girl Cooks, headed by Chef Kristi Brown.

Brown terms her particular union of flavors “Seattle Soul,” cuisine rooted in traditional American soul food, with innovations, improvisations, and riffs based on the experiences and influences of living in the Pacific Northwest. She has received numerous accolades for her restaurant COMMUNION, where catfish po'boys, “Hood Sushi,” and smokey berbere chicken are stand-outs on the menu, as well as comfort favorites like catfish and grits, mac and cheese, and local greens.

Kristi Brown was also just nominated for Best Chef in the Northwest by the 2024 James Beard Awards! Powered by her mantra, “Everybody’s Gotta Eat!” Chef Kristi Brown desires to build community through the cultivation of fresh food and fine cooking.

Northwest Girlchoir is excited to experience what Chef Kristi Brown will be creating for us at this year’s Spring Fling: Lifting Voices!
