Why Give
Support Northwest Girlchoir
Northwest Girlchoir is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies on donations to cover expenses not covered by tuition and concert ticket sales. Your tax-deductible donation will help us achieve our goal of transforming the lives of girls and young women in our community.
WHY GIVE
Northwest Girlchoir provides girls and young women from diverse backgrounds with joyful, developmentally appropriate, and experiential music education…
… to create distinctive performances of the highest artistic quality that …
… inspire participation of our whole community in supporting girls …
… through relationships sustained throughout their lives …
… so they may serve and enrich the world.
Northwest Girlchoir invites individuals, companies, and foundations to help us transform the lives of girls and young women in our community. With your generous partnership, we work toward:
Artistic Excellence
Northwest Girlchoir focuses on musicianship, vocal technique, and performance skills within our specially-tailored curriculum for girls and young women. In turn, the choristers share with the community what they have learned through professional performances with diverse music selections and prestigious collaborations.
Donations to Northwest Girlchoir ensure our artistic staff can be creative in their direction, and envision bold collaborations with other local artists, commission or purchase new music, provide individual instruction for choristers, and create innovative musical experiences by adding visual or unique musical elements to performances.
Girl Empowerment
The choir experience helps girls and young women to build confidence as they try, fail, succeed, and perform for themselves and others. This results in a stronger sense of self, and greater clarity about their role as part of a greater whole.
By striving together in a non-competitive environment, girls learn compassionate leadership. They learn to understand the difference between singing and listening, and leading and supporting to create collective beauty. By the time choristers have reached high school, they are guiding some of their own activities, serving as mentors and counselors to younger choristers, and enriching their community through performance.
Equity and Access
Your donation helps Northwest Girlchoir fulfill our commitment that all choristers can experience the personal growth, friendship, and cultural understanding the choir offers, regardless of their ability to pay. We offer a robust need-based scholarship program for choir tuition, touring, and summer camp. We have also developed the Bravo Choir, a free after-school choir onsite at Northgate Elementary, a racially diverse Title I school in our neighborhood. We are committed to racial equity and have been working since 2015 to identify and eliminate racial and socio-economic barriers to our choir programs.
